BIO- PRODUCTS FROM ORGANIC WASTE – AS PERCEIVED BY WOMEN AND ADOLESCENT IN PHU YEN PROVINCE

On 5th September 2019, with the support of the People’s Committee and the cooperation of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Phu Yen Province, Centre for supporting green development (Greenhub) has conducted a waste audit training, making bio- products and composting method from organic waste in Phu Yen province for units actively involved including: Department of Environmental Protection – Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Phu Yen province, 24 Women’s Union staff of 9 districts, towns and cities, Youth union members, Phu Yen province’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, pupils and teachers of Duy Tan high school and Phu Yen Ethnic Minority Boarding School in Phu Yen province and officials of Urban Environment Company (URENCO).

Training on method of auditing waste, making probiotic products and composting in Phu Yen province

Through the training, GreenHub provided a waste research method for local waste management, which aim to support the waste data collection. In addition, women and youth have had the opportunity to approach the process of turning organic waste into useful, environmental friendly and convenient products for families.

Ms. Le Dao An Xuan – Deputy Director of Phu Yen province’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment shared the practical experience producing and consuming bio- products using vegetable waste at home.

Additionally, along with the supporting policy of Phu Yen province’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment, turning organic waste into bio- products and composting is one of the solution for creating income for local poverty women and youth. It also facilitate livelihood for people who have difficult situation.
