On April 13 – 14, 2022, GreenHub cooperated with the People’s Committees of Trang Tien & Tran Hung Dao wards, Hoan Kiem district to organize a training session on Safe Use of Plastic & Impact of Plastic Pollution on the Environment & Human health with nearly 100 people participating.

The training session is directly designed and taught by the local trainer – teacher Nguyen Thi Phuong Lien – Nguyen Du Primary School (Hoan Kiem) with the support of experts from the Vietnam One Health University Network (VOHUN) & GreenHub. TOT training program was developed with the aim of equipping local trainers with knowledge about Plastic & Plastic Pollution and lesson design skills, training skills so that each local trainer can contribute to spreading the knowledge about the safe use of plastic as well as the message to reduce plastic waste pollution to the community.

Trainer Nguyen Thi Phuong Lien shared that this is the first time she taught a class with the target audience being citizens, although she has had a lot of experience in communicating with students, it is her first time working with the community. She couldn’t help but feel nervous and anxious. However, with the knowledge she has learned from the training course organized by the LSPP project and the guidance from experts, she can be confident with the knowledge she has, and at the same time, the opportunity to attend this training class has helped her gain more confidence in her communication skills & have more confidence in her ability to step out of her comfort zone.

She added, “Standing up here, I’m also very nervous, but seeing the agreement, the nods from the guys and girls below, I feel very motivated. This work is really meaningful to the community. If possible, I would also like to organize more training sessions in my ward, so that this information can be spread to more people.”
