On the morning of March 28, 2025, in Tuy Hoa City, the Center for Supporting Green Development (GreenHub), in collaboration with the Phu Yen Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Provincial Women’s Union, organized an experience-sharing workshop and closing event for the project “Plastic Waste Reduction through Zero Waste Practices.”
The workshop was successfully held with the participation of nearly 50 representatives from government agencies at various levels, departments, international organizations, businesses, schools, and local communities.

After nearly three years of implementation, the project has achieved notable results across communities, schools, traditional markets, and businesses throughout the province. Zero Waste models have contributed to positive changes in consumption behavior and helped spread a culture of Zero Waste practices in Phu Yen.
The workshop also provided an open platform for stakeholders to share lessons learned and propose future directions to further promote sustainable consumption and effectively reduce plastic waste.
Through a diverse range of activities conducted in schools, traditional markets, cooperatives, accommodation facilities, cafés, residential areas, and government offices, the project demonstrated its practicality and effectiveness. These efforts received strong support and positive feedback from local authorities and communities.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Huynh Huy Viet, Head of the General Affairs Division, Sub-Department of Environmental, Marine, and Island Protection, stated:
“Local, community-based initiatives clearly demonstrate that plastic waste reduction is entirely achievable when there is strong collaboration among authorities, communities, and stakeholders.”

Ms. Tran Thi Kim Tuyen, representative of Pacific Environment (PE) Viet Nam, shared:
“The project ‘Plastic Waste Reduction through Zero Waste Practices’ not only raises community awareness of the impacts of plastic waste but also supports the implementation of practical plastic reduction models. These initiatives help foster positive changes in consumption habits and waste management practices. PE Viet Nam believes that with the joint efforts of agencies, organizations, local authorities, and communities, the journey toward a Zero Waste Viet Nam will continue to make steady progress.”
During the final discussion session, stakeholders jointly proposed solutions and agreed to coordinate the implementation of the Action Plan on Reducing Non-Biodegradable Plastic Bags and Single-Use Plastics for the 2024–2030 period, reaffirming their commitment to scaling up Zero Waste models across the province.
