Goal in Plan No. 78/KH-UBND
Action program 08/CTr orients Phu Yen province to be a Green – Clean – Beautiful destination for both local people and tourists. To achieve that goal, GreenHub and Pacific Environment Vietnam have implemented the project “Reducing plastic waste through Zero-waste practices” to pilot and implement solutions to reduce waste, especially plastic waste in Phu Yen.
Ms. Quach Thi Xuan – Regional Director of Pacific Environment Vietnam affirmed: “Joining hands with us to successfully implement the plan No. 78/KH-UBND to help Phu Yen province become a Green – Clean – Beautiful destination. To realize that, Phu Yen will be the first province to have a roadmap to reduce plastic waste issued by the Provincial People’s Committee.”
Project launching workshop “Reducing plastic waste through Zero-waste practices” welcomed the participation of Director of GreenHub, Regional Director of Pacific Environment Vietnam, Representatives of Environmental Protection Agency and related units including representatives of restaurants, hotels, schools,… in Ward 7, Tuy Hoa city, proving the consensus in all Phu Yen’s units to maintain the city’s environment.
Through the Project Launching Workshop, GreenHub also reported the results of the initial activities in the journey of implementing solutions to reduce plastic waste in Phu Yen, including the results of the waste audit in Ward 7 and the KAP survey in Hoi An city.
Within the framework of the Workshop, representatives of stakeholders including restaurants, hotels, accommodation facilities, schools,… in Tuy Hoa city made a proposal that 3 restaurants & hotels, 3 cafes, 3 supermarkets & markets, 3 agencies, and 5 schools in the area pilot the zero-waste practice models. Thereby, the project team has collected very useful suggestions for the selection of pilot units to practice Zero waste in the future.
