
Within the framework of the Phu Yen Zero Waste Practice Package, the pilot plan for classifying, collecting and composting organic waste in Ward 7 after nearly 3 months of piloting has recorded the first results. These are:
- Nearly 17 tons of organic waste were classified at P7 market and Truong Chinh residential area, transported and composted
- The participation rate in classification reached 70% of the households in Ward 7 market, and 80% in Truong Chinh residential area
- Above all, valuable lessons were learned and adjusted monthly
This pilot model is a joint effort of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Tuy Hoa City People's Committee, Phu Yen Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, WWF Vietnam, GreenHub and the coordination of the Women's Union, Ward 7 People's Committee and other partners. The plan is expected to be a successful model in the province to serve as a basis for developing a replication plan in Tuy Hoa city to prepare for the implementation of mandatory waste classification regulations issued in the 2020 Law on Environmental Protection.
