Symposium “Promoting Circular Economy solutions to reduce the impact of plastic pollution on health”

As part of the discussion session of the Kick-off Conference to develop a National Action Plan to implement a circular economy, on the afternoon of June 28, The Plastic and Health Action Partnership (PHA) chaired the symposium on Circular Economy solutions.

The workshop proceeded to discuss 5 issues with 5 representatives from partner organizations:

  • A general overview of the Circular Economy and its links to health: Risks and implications – Family Health International (FHI360)
  • The link between Circular Economy and One Health approach – Vietnam One Health University Network  (VOHUN)
  • The possibility of applying circular economy in recycling organic waste to use for clean and sustainable agricultural production – The Vietnam Organic Agricultural Association (VOAA)
  • Circular Economy applications and benefits related to single-use plastics in the healthcare industry – Center for Health Environmental Research & Development (CHERAD)
  • Women-owned business models: Empowering women towards a circular economy – GreenHub (GreenHub)

The workshop discussed the gaps in the application of the Circular Economy to reduce the impact of plastic pollution on health and propose opportunities to promote and apply the circular economy in different segments in Vietnam.
