IRF – Launching project “No Informal Waste Collectors left behind – Support recovery of Vulnerable Women from COVID-19 pandemic”.

Initiated by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Goethe-Institut since 2020, International Relief Funds (IRF) were created to deal with the impact of the pandemic on socio-cultural organisations abroads. Seeing the negative effects of Covid-19 pandemic on our partners, GreenHub applied and successfully brought this opportunity to a group of women collecting waste in Tu Son and Ngu Phuc communes, Hai Phong city. 


Objective Goals:

The project supports GreenHub to carry out recovery activities after the COVID-19 pandemic for women of waste collectors in two communes of Hai Phong. The idea of the project is to pilot increase access and creative work for poor women who collect informal waste (crickets/junk) in the context of COVID-19. 


Specific Objectives:

The project aims to develop and apply an online application platform and communication tool to support the activities of women labor groups during the pandemic. The project will pilot training and skills development, contributing to increase income for waste collectors in Tu Son and Ngu Phuc communes, Hai Phong city. 


Expected Outcomes of the Project:
  • The group of women waste collectors participating in the project will improve their communication and online working skills through group communication tools, technical support, health counseling and improved guidelines for waste treatment.  
  • The women waste collectors can connect and enhance information exchange, thereby helping to improve and promote the collection and classification of waste in two communes of Hai Phong.  
  • The results of the project will be the foundation replication with other waste collectors in the futute in Hai Phong.
