In early October, GreenHub had a direct working session with the People's Committee of Binh Thuy District. Within the framework of the project "For a Zero-Waste Mekong River - Piloting a Circular Economy Model in Floating Markets in Can Tho", the meeting focused on 3 main contents: summarizing activities from 11/2021 to 10/2022, implementing the plan from 10/2022 to 3/2023 and exchanging ideas on solutions and coordination activities.

The working session reviewed the results of activities in the period from 11/2021 to 10/2022. The launching ceremony of the project "For a Zero-Waste Mekong River" held in 5/2022 marked the official cooperation between local authorities, sponsors and GreenHub. Within a year, the parties have coordinated to organize extremely practical activities for local people, including:

  • Waste audit at Con Son: took place for 7 consecutive days with the participation of 39 households.
  • Waste cleaning at Con Son: attracted more than 100 participants and collected 160kg of plastic waste.

  • For floating waste around the Son Islet area: GreenHub will support the cost of buying boats and gasoline for monthly clean-up. Binh Thuy District People's Committee will arrange personnel to support the work.
  • For household waste: The District People's Committee will develop and issue a pilot policy for waste classification and collection. GreenHub will support the design and construction of waste collection points.
  • For organic waste: The District People's Committee will select households to implement the process of producing organic fertilizer and organic detergent.

During the meeting, Binh Thuy District People's Committee and GreenHub representatives also discussed and contributed ideas on solutions and coordinated activities in the coming time. With the goal of "For a Zero-Waste Mekong River", the parties are committed to working and coordinating closely with each other!
