On July 28, in Can Tho city, GreenHub coordinated with the Center for Research on Resources and Rural Development (Recerd) to organize a workshop to share the results of the survey and waste audit of the project "For a Zero-Waste Mekong River - Piloting a circular economy model at floating markets in Can Tho".
The event was attended by many delegates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Construction, Urban Joint Stock Company, Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, Can Tho University, People's Committees of Cai Rang and Binh Thuy districts, representatives of the Women's Union, local authorities of the project area and Representatives from GreenHub:
- Reflected the current status of waste survey in the Son islet area and Cai Rang floating market.
- Provide a frank assessment of the difficulties and remaining problems, and identify the causes to propose timely and sustainable solutions to the problem of waste treatment on the river.
- Propose solutions that closely follow the model of community tourism development combined with environmental protection.
The project's components still maintain the enthusiasm and determination to find solutions to solve the waste problem at Cai Rang and Con Son floating markets. We are ready for the next activities to be carried out at the end of August.
