📌 On June 6, 2026, GreenHub, in collaboration with the People's Committee of Binh Kien Ward, organized a training workshop on “Household Waste Segregation and Organic Composting” in Long Thuy Neighborhood. The event brought together environmental experts from the Dak Lak Environmental Protection Sub-department, representatives from the Department of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Development, members of the community-led Zero Waste Task Force, owners of accommodation and food service businesses, and local residents.

🤝 This activity followed an earlier community meeting to align stakeholders on implementing waste segregation and waste reduction measures in the neighborhood using a Zero Waste approach. With technical support from GreenHub and relevant partners, 60 households will take part in a pilot program to segregate waste at source: organic waste will be composted at home and turned into fertilizer, while recyclable materials will be collected and sold for recycling.

📗 The training equipped participating households with practical knowledge and skills for sorting waste at source and composting organic waste into nutrient-rich fertilizer for plants. Through hands-on demonstrations led by environmental experts, residents learned how to use recycled compost bins and gained a better understanding of the environmental and economic benefits of the model. By managing organic waste at home, households can significantly reduce the amount of waste sent for collection, helping ease pressure on the local waste management system.

🌱 To support residents in putting these practices into action, GreenHub and its partners provided households with compost bins and mesh bags for storing and collecting recyclable materials. The initiative received enthusiastic support from community members, reflecting a growing commitment to greener and more sustainable living.

🚮 Lasting environmental solutions require collective action and long-term community engagement. Through simple everyday actions, the people of Long Thuy are taking an active role in protecting their living environment and coastal ecosystems, while contributing to a Zero Waste future for all.
