🌏 As part of the project “Turning for Zero Plastic Waste in Dak Lak”, in December of 2025, GreenHub successfully organized the “Community Day on Connection and Network Expansion for the Women Informal Recyclable Waste Workers”, marking the first milestone in a series of community- centered activities under the project.
🌿The event was organized in close collaboration with the Phu Yen Ward Women’s Union, with the active participation of 50 members of Women Informal Waste Workers (WIWWs) clubs in the ward. These women represent a largely unseen yet essential workforce within the local waste management system, while continuing to face significant challenges related to livelihoods, health, and working conditions particularly in the aftermath of recent natural disasters.
During the event, key topics were shared and discussed, including:
✅ An overview of the project Turning for Zero Plastic Waste in Dak Lak, and the role of Women Informal Waste Workers clubs in operating waste separation at source models;
✅ Knowledge on occupational health and safety, protecting health during waste collection and separation, as well as strengthening climate change adaptation and disaster risk awareness;
✅ Group discussions to identify the needs, challenges, and opportunities of Women Informal Waste Workers clubs, grounded in the members’ everyday work experiences.
More than just a networking event, the festival also served as a skills-building and capacity-strengthening activity, while offering encouragement and solidarity to club members following the impacts of natural disasters. Through collective support and shared learning, strength continues to grow, spread and empower communities to stand together and take action for a Zero Waste Dak Lak.
