On the third day of the event, the delegation traveled in electric vehicles to visit sustainability models in Da Nang. Despite the rain and long distances, the participants remained enthusiastic and engaged throughout the journey.

The site visit focused on the Green House Model, a community-driven plastic waste collection initiative. Local residents sort and collect plastic waste, which is then transported by members of the Hoi An Environmental Club (S.E.A Club) to a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) before being recycled at ReForm, a specialized recycling company.

The delegation’s first stop was the Green House in Vong Nhi Hamlet, where the Women's Union has successfully promoted waste sorting and collection. A notable highlight was the roof of the Green House, which was made from recycled plastic, demonstrating resource circularity in action and inspiring the community.

At the MRF station, delegates observed how plastic waste is processed before being transported to ReForm, where they witnessed the transformation of waste into new products. This experience reinforced the importance of waste segregation at the source in enhancing recycling efficiency.

Next, the delegation visited a rural home in Hoi An, where members of the Cam Nam Ward Disabled Association repurpose discarded fabric scraps into beautiful handcrafted products such as handbags, laptop sleeves, and traditional games. Despite facing physical challenges, these women continue to pursue livelihoods while promoting sustainability. Their work exemplifies social entrepreneurship and environmental responsibility, proving that waste can be transformed into valuable resources.

The program concluded with a final review session, where delegates from various regions shared their key takeaways and discussed how they could adapt and implement similar models in their own communities. Beyond discussing the models and project impact, the most pressing question was: How can these initiatives continue sustainably? The focus was on ensuring that waste reduction and recycling become ingrained in daily life, even after project funding ends.

After three days of intensive discussions and site visits, GreenHub extends its deep appreciation to all local partners and stakeholders for their invaluable contributions. Their dedication and enthusiasm will help further develop these eco-friendly models in Year 3 and beyond.

This initiative is part of the "Reducing Plastic Waste Pollution with Local Solutions" (LSPP) project, funded by USAID under the "Vietnam Local Activities for Environmental Health" program. The project is implemented by GreenHub in collaboration with ISPONRE, HUPH-VOHUN, and GIMASYS.
