GreenHub, in collaboration with the Directorate of Fisheries, IUCN Vietnam, VINAFIS, and WWF-Vietnam, successfully organized a series of integrated training sessions on "Capacity Building for Effective Management of the Marine Protected Area (MPA)/National Park (NP) Network in Vietnam". Held from March 20 to March 24, 2023, the training aimed to equip experts with essential skills such as survival techniques, project management, and identifying violations in marine conservation.
As part of the program, the workshop "Effective Management of Marine Protected Areas" took place on March 24, receiving positive feedback. Discussions covered crucial topics such as legal regulations and policies related to marine conservation, a framework for effective MPA management solutions, the draft plan for the protection and exploitation of fisheries resources, and the proposal for expanding and establishing new MPAs.
Effective MPA network management is essential for investing in the blue economy, natural capital, and ecosystems. Conducting assessments of marine and island natural capital and applying ecosystem-based marine spatial planning can help optimize benefits while minimizing conflicts in environmental exploitation and use. This collaboration highlights the commitment of participating organizations to marine conservation and sustainable development for a better future.
