Enhancing scientific capacity for accelerating actions toward plastic

On May 8 – 10, 2023 GreenHub provided technical support for the regional workshop “Enhancing scientific capacity for accelerating actions toward plastic”.

We were honoured to host experts from international organizations such as Our Sea of East Asia (OSEAN), Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA), Indonesia Waste Platform, International Coastal Cleanup Philippines, and representatives of major domestic organizations on reducing plastic waste. The workshop included:

1. Activities to connect participants with each other and with the workshop’s objectives and theme “Marine Waste Management and Plastic Pollution"

2. Group discussion on “Building a Stakeholder Ecosystem in Reducing Marine Waste and Plastic Pollution”

3. Sharings from domestic and foreign experts on surveying and monitoring Marine Waste applying a Citizen Science approach

4. Roundtable discussion on How to mobilize and utilize resources for activities on reducing marine waste and plastic pollution?

Especially, the workshop created new scientific community linkages and contributed methods of marine waste monitoring, and practical lessons from international partners to promote the reduction of plastic waste in Vietnam.
