On June 21, 2023 in Da Nang, Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE) in collaboration with GreenHub, Center for Environmental and Community Research (CECR), LIVE & LEARN for Environment and Community, Winrock International organized an international workshop “Local Works program – Partnerships for the Environment of Vietnam” within the framework of the Local Works program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
At the seminar, GreenHub introduced many products from green businesses and shared the story of the 3-year journey of implementing the project “Local Solutions for Plastic Pollution” with many local achievements and positive changes including:
- 492 local partners that includes 175 businesses.
- More than $70,000 was raised from other partners.
- 21 pilot models/initiatives to reduce plastic waste have been implemented in various forms at eco-markets, residential zones, green schools or temples.
- Connecting and cooperating with 26 units to form the Plastic and Health Action Partnership (PHA)
GreenHub also handed over 7 initiatives/models to the locality and was extremely honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Da Nang People’s Committee for fighting against plastic waste.
On the first day of the workshop, GreenHub shared the model of residential zones to reduce plastic waste and introduced the recycled playground model in Hoa Cuong Nam ward implemented within the framework of the LSPP project to the delegates.
Many plastic waste reduction models have motivated and propagated the community’s active enthusiasm among the community, creating a successful workshop with many good impressions.
