[/HēRōS/: ZERO – HEROES OF ZERO] Meeting the Champions of GreenTalk 2021 – The “Green Quartet” Team
AuthorAdministrator

“After winning the championship, the very first feeling we had was pure joy. We simply couldn’t hide how happy we were. It felt amazing to achieve such a result! Right after that came a deep sense of gratitude toward our parents, teachers, and friends who supported us throughout the preparation process, as well as our appreciation for the organizers for creating such a fun and meaningful competition for us.”

Can you tell us about your preparation process and how your team came up with the idea for your GreenTalk submission?

“The first step was brainstorming ideas for our competition video. We decided to turn it into a meaningful story about a plastic bottle and the three possible journeys it might take after being used: ending up in a scrapyard, drifting into the ocean as waste, or being reused.

We spent a lot of time and effort preparing the video because we wanted it to fully convey our message and inspire others.

Next was preparing the opening performance for the first round of the final night. This was actually the most challenging and demanding part for both our team and our teacher. Our idea was to recycle plastic into an eco friendly bedside lamp and present it during the final. To make that happen, we had to spend a lot of time searching for materials and figuring out how to create something that looked nice while still being environmentally friendly.

After that, we also had to review knowledge and practice our speaking skills for the next rounds, including the Obstacle Round and the Final Sprint Round, which were quite challenging since our knowledge about environmental issues and plastic pollution was still limited.

And of course, something that helped us prepare mentally for the competition was the encouragement we received from our families, friends, and teachers. Those words of support were like sweet treats that gave us motivation throughout the competition.”

Did the competition leave any lasting impact on your team? Has anything changed in your daily lives after participating in an environmental competition?

“After participating in the competition, our awareness about the environment changed a lot. We realized how important the environment is and how closely it is connected to our daily lives. That’s why everyone needs to work together to protect it.

Our habits have also changed significantly. We now have a stronger green awareness and a greater sense of responsibility toward environmental protection. For example, after finishing a bottle of soda, we no longer think about throwing it away. Instead, we start thinking of creative ways to recycle it into something useful.

We think it would be wonderful if more people shared this mindset and stopped seeing plastic bottles as waste, but instead gave them a new life.”

What are your future plans on the journey toward a greener lifestyle and environmental protection?

“Our plan is to create more value from plastic waste. Plastic bottles, plastic bags, or any items that people consider waste can actually be reused and transformed into something useful.

We want to show everyone that throwing away plastic items without thinking is a mistake. Instead, they can be reused and given a new purpose. We will continue spreading positive ideas and encouraging more people to take action to protect the environment.”

“We hope that everyone, especially our GreenZ generation, will continue to spread green actions and a green lifestyle so that our planet can say no to plastic waste and other types of waste as well.”
